Dr. Robert Tripp is a highly skilled general surgeon who performs a wide range of surgical procedures.

A pioneer in his field, Dr. Tripp was among the first surgeons in the Rochester region to be trained in current techniques involving sentinel node technology, now used nationwide for patients with certain types of breast cancers or melanomas. He is particularly noted in the Rochester, NY region for his experience and expertise in caring for patients with hernias or patients needing surgeries involving the gastrointestinal tract.

Dr. Tripp earned a B.S. in electrical engineering in 1984 from the University of Notre Dame, and was nominated by Notre Dame as its Rhodes Scholar candidate. He subsequently earned his medical degree from Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, graduating in 1988 as the recipient of the President's Medallion and a member of the school's honor society.

He received numerous awards while completing his post-graduate training in surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Tripp was recognized with a resident research award from the Department of Surgery, a new investigator award from the American College of Nutrition, and an excellence-in-teaching award as chief surgical resident.

Dr. Tripp is board certified in surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also is Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
