Patient Care Bio
Mina Chung, MD, is a retinal specialist who joined the University of Rochester Eye Institute faculty in 2002. Dr. Chung was recruited from the faculty of the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California, where she provided retina care at the Los Angeles County Hospital and Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Dr. Chung provides medical and surgical care to those suffering from a variety of retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, genetic retinal diseases, ocular trauma and other conditions relating to the back of the eye. In addition she is key member of the Flaum Eye Institute's pediatric artificial corneal transplant team, providing diagnostic and surgical support for these complex procedures. A patient and caring practitioner, Dr. Chung provides thoughtful and thorough examinations and treatments to those under her care.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Chung is a busy and productive clinician / scientist. Working with collaborators at the University of Rochester's Center for Visual Science and the National Institutes for health, she is helping to unravel some of the most complex mysteries affecting retinal health. As such, many of her patients get to participate in important clinical research at the forefront of diagnosing and treating retinal disease at the earliest stages.
