Professional Bio

I received a BS degree of physics in 2000 and a MS degree of electrical engineering in 2003 from Nanjing University, China. In 2005 I received a MA degree of physics from the University of Rochester. My research interests focus on x-ray cone beam CT imaging, including both conventional attenuation-based imaging and novel phase-contrast imaging. Cone beam CT imaging technique is novel over the multislice CT technique as it is able to image a volume with faster acquisition speed, lower exposure dose and isotropic spatial resolution, and therefore it is very promising for clinical applications. There is a bottleneck for the conventional attenuation-based x-ray technique to further improve the spatial resolution and lower the exposure dose, while the phase-contrast technique is able to overcome this difficulty by using the diffraction and interference effect of x-ray waves.

Research Bio

My research interests focus on x-ray cone beam CT imaging, including both conventional attenuation-based imaging and novel phase-contrast imaging. Current research projects include:
1. developing flat-panel detector-based cone beam CT systems,
2. applying the cone beam CT technique for breast imaging, vascular imaging, small animal imaging and etc,
3. developing the phase-contrast cone beam CT imaging technique into a practical imaging modality.
