Professional Bio

Dr. Elad holds joint appointments as a professor of dentistry and a professor of Oncology at the University of Rochester, where she is Chair of the Division of Oral Medicine at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health (EIOH).
Before joining the faculty there, Dr. Elad held leading roles at the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine in the department of Oral Medicine. She was the Chair of the Israeli Society of Oral Medicine (2002-2010) and the General Secretary for the International Society of Oral Oncology (ISOO) (2005-2013).
Dr. Elad is the head of educational courses for the residents and students at EIOH focusing on Oral Medicine and dental management of medically complex patients. She has mentored numerous students for D.M.D., M.Sc. and B.Sc. thesis's' as well as for research projects.

Dr. Elad is published extensively in professional journals and co-authored multiple book chapters. She is currently the principle investigator of several studies, including multi-central multi-national studies; mostly in the fields of Oral Medicine, Hematology and Oncology.
Since 2009 she is the Co-Chair of the Mucositis study group in the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer/International Society of Oral Medicine (MASCC/ISOO), taking a lead role in the development and publication of several guidelines and position papers. She also serves on the editorial board of several impact-factor ranked medical/dental journals.
