Patient Care Bio

I am a trainee of the Medical Scientist Training Program at Duke University School of Medicine, from where I obtained my MD and PhD degrees. I then obtained clinical training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at University of North Carolina Hospitals and Barnes-Jewish Hospitals. After two years of public service as a Medical Officer in the Division of Antiviral Products at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, I accepted my current faculty appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

My career path is that of a laboratory-based physician-scientist. My basic research projects include the development of novel vaccine candidates against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and related respiratory viruses, clinical research studies on antiviral and antibacterial compounds/drugs, and in collaboration with faculty members in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, identifying novel antimicrobial development against Acinetobacter baumannii and other Gram-negative bacteria. I maintain an active clinical practice in infectious diseases patient consultations for inpatients and outpatients.
