Dr Srivastava obtained his Ph.D in the area of Reproductive Biology from Banaras Hindu University in 1988, India. He was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Rockefeller Foundation to pursue his research in the area of contraception at Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA from 1989-1993. He then took a Research Associate position in the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1993 and remained there until 1996. He has published extensively in the area of reproductive endocrinology in peer reviewed journals, presented his research in national and international meetings and authored chapters in various books.
Dr. Srivastava began his career in embryology and andrology in 1996 at the Faulkner Center for Reproductive Medicine in Boston, MA. He was then appointed Laboratory Director at the Fertility Center of Sarasota in 1999. He worked there until 2005 in a highly successful IVF program before accepting the faculty position at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester in January 2006 and also appointed as Laboratory Director for the Strong Fertility Center.
Dr. Srivastava is a member of American society for Reproductive Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis as a high complexity laboratory director (HCLD) in both andrology and embryology and by NY State Department of Health as laboratory director for andrology laboratory. His current area of interest is Preimplantation genetic Diagnosis (PGD) to treat the IVF patient with recurrent pregnancy loss, advanced maternal age and single gene mutation.
