Professional Bio
Suzanne M. Gillespie MD, RD, CMD is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Geriatrics/Aging at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice & Palliative Medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree with honors in Nutritional Science at Cornell University and began her career in health care as a Registered Dietitian! She went on to graduate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and to complete residency and fellowship training at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Dr Gillespie is a certified medical director and is currently Medical Director for Senior Living Services at Thompson Health, an Affiliate of the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr Gillespie's clinical practice is focused in long-term care and palliative care. She is a two-time recipient of the highly competitive Geriatric Academic Career Award from the Department of Health and Human Resources for her work in geriatric education related to quality improvement in long term care. Dr. Gillespie serves as the Director of Education in the Greater Rochester Nursing Home Quality Consotium.
Patient Care Bio
Dr. Gillespie graduated from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed her residency training in internal medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester clinical fellowship in geriatric medicine based at Monroe Community Hospital and is currently a departmental fellow with research interests in fear of falling in long-term care enrollees and outpatient comprehensive geriatric assessment. Her clinical work is focused in long-term care, geriatric assessment and palliative care. She is also a registered dietitian.
