Research Bio
Dr. Gabrielle Yeaney received her BS in pre-medicine with distinction and honors in biology from Pennsylvania State University in 1998 and her M.D. degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2002. She completed residency in anatomic pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee, in 2005 followed by surgical pathology fellowship there in 2006. She also completed a neuropathology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2008. She is presently an assistant professor with primary appointment in the Department of Pathology and secondary appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology.
Her research interests include clinical and translational efforts in the fields of neuropathology and ophthalmology. She is specifically interested in the effects of vascular and inflammatory processes on neurodegenerative diseases. Other academic interests include medical education and development of teaching tools. She is the director of the neuropathology resident rotation and designer of the ophthalmic pathology curriculum for ophthalmology residents. She is a member of the first year medical student "Host Defense" course laboratory instructors' team, second year medical student "Mind, Brain and Behavior" course design team and the Pathology Residency Educaton Committee.
