Professional Bio

The University of Rochester Medical Center welcomes Dr. Todd D. Francone as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. A native of Bellerose, New York, Dr. Francone earned his undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and his medical degree from Upstate Medical University, SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York.



Prior to joining URMC, Dr. Francone completed residencies in general surgery at St. Vincent's Hospital Medical Center, Manhattan Campus in New York and at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Francone completed a colon and rectal surgery residency at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts and a clinical research fellowship in colorectal service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Dr. Francone is board certified in both General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is licensed in the states of New York and Massachusetts. He has special expertise in advanced laparoscopic surgery including single incision laparoscopic colectomy (SILS) and Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEMS). Dr. Francone completed his colon and rectal training at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. He has strong interest in surgical oncology and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Francone is the recipient of several prestigious awards and honors. He has also authored numerous publications and has been involved in a variety of research studies.
