Heather Lane, CNM, MSN began her career as a midwife after graduating from Yale University with a Master's in Nursing. Her undergraduate education was completed at Vassar College. After finishing the midwifery program at Yale, she worked for a private practice on the north shore of Massachusetss in Newburyport doing inpatient and outpatient midwifery care for low risk women. While working in Newburyport she also spent time in South Africa precepting a group of student nurse-midwives from Yale University attending births for Zulu women in a community hospital in KwaZulu Natal. In 2007 she began employment in Brockton, Massachusetts at a Federall Qualified Health Center, primarily working with high risk low income and immigrant women from Haiti, South/Central America, and Cape Verde.
She moved back to her hometown of Rochester, NY in 2010 when she joined the URMC Midwifery Group at the University of Rochester.

Heather Lane, CNM, MSN is a native of Rochester, NY having spent the first 18 years of her life growing up in a suburb near Rochester. She went to Vassar College for her undergraduate degree and later went on to Yale School of Nursing for her Master's in Nursing with a specialty in Nurse-Midwifery. She worked in the Boston area for several years befor returning to Rochester to join the URMC Midwifery Group as Associate Faculty in the Department of Ob/Gyn. Heather loves being a midwife and can't imagine doing anything else in life other than "catching babies" and caring for women and their families. Outside of work, Heather enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her husband and son and family and friends.
