Research Bio

Dr. Wittink is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine. A primary care physician with additional training in geriatrics and mental health, her research efforts focus on improving care for older adults with multiple chronic conditions and psychosocial needs. She has been awarded grants from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) to develop strategies to elicit and incorporate patient priorities into care. She joined the UR faculty in 2010 to work with other researchers interested in health care decision-making and patient-provider communication. She us currently developing and testing a computer-based tool deployed in waiting rooms to help patients articulate their health related priorities to their primary care physician.
