“As a parent, I cherish and understand the huge responsibility and trust placed in doctors who treat someone else’s child. To me, communication and support for the child and family are just as important as the surgical treatment delivered.”

Areas of Expertise

• Minimally invasive surgery for infants and children, including advanced laparoscopic and thoracoscopic procedures
• Cryoablation of nerves for pain control after thoracic surgery
• Surgery for a wide range of pediatric conditions in the neck, chest and abdomen
• Surgical critical care focusing on ICU care of neonates, adolescents and patients with traumatic injuries
• Treatment for pediatric congenital anomalies

I chose this field because I love the breadth of conditions a pediatric surgeon has the privilege of addressing. The surgical care of premature babies through teenagers requires multidisciplinary collaboration, planning and detailed attention. Children are amazingly resilient and, as a surgeon, I get to help them through a critical point in their lives, while handling the concerns of the patient and parents alike.

With multidisciplinary planning between medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists and pediatric hospitalists, I am also part of a team that treats pediatric tumors through biopsy, vascular access for chemotherapy and resection. I’m excited to join a team that will provide comprehensive care for children with congenital colorectal anomalies, as well as inflammatory bowel disease.

Every time I meet a new patient, I think about the entire family and the course of a child’s life that leads them to that moment. My goal is to address immediate surgical issues while building a relationship with the parents who support their children and are so critical to their care.
