The curriculum is designed to be flexible, so that the student can choose from the broadest possible selection of research opportunities at the University of Rochester. The recommended curriculum fulfills the degree requirements for Ph.D. programs in Pharmacology or Physiology: the flexibility of our recommended curriculum allows requirements for other degree programs to be accommodated.

YEAR 1

First Semester: PHP 403, Cell and Molecular Physiology IND 408, Biochemistry IND 409, Cell Biology IND 501, Ethics in Research PHP 502, Seminars and Colloquia Second Semester: PHP 404, Principles of Pharmacology IND 410, Molecular Biology and Genetics IND 447, Signal Transduction PHP 502, Seminars and Colloquia   PHP 440 (Spring 2004 Elective), Topics in Vascular Biology Laboratory Research Rotations: Students will do three rotations during any of four possible time slots: October 1-December 31; January 1-March 31; April 1-June 30; July 1-August 31.

YEAR 2

Second-year courses are selected from a menu of in-depth electives that allow each student to tailor his or her area of study to material relevant to their research interests.
