THE RESIDENT RESEARCH TRACK

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester Medical Center fosters the development of new physician-investigators in research enrichment and immersion programs for undergraduates, medical students, residents, and fellows. The Resident Research Track is our newest addition, allowing residents to begin and pursue mentored research while fulfilling requirements for clinical certification in Pediatrics. The residents in this track declare a primary mentor but also have their research and career trajectories monitored by the Executive Committee of our Strong Children’s Research Center and present their work in a final symposium for the whole Department and others from the Medical Center community.  Several have garnered extramural support for their research and most present abstracts at national meetings and/or publish their work in peer-reviewed journals.  Profiled in this issue are a few of our current Research Track residents.
