Dr. Raymond J. Mayewski, vice president and chief medical officer for Strong Health, directs the Center for Primary Care — a major initiative designed to support primary care physicians in their practices, research, and academic endeavors. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Mayewski spends 25% of his time in primary care practice.

The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and Strong Health will work with you to find that special opportunity. We have leveraged our assets as a premier academic center and nationally regarded health system to tailor each physician relationship in a way that reflects that individual's vision for how and where to practice. Just as important, our relationship with you is designed to evolve over time as your career interests grow or change.

Size, diversity, and reputation help us do this. And, our primary care physicians have vigorous representation on the senior leadership team.

At URMC you will find ongoing advocacy for your interests and perspectives at the highest levels within this organization. The Center for Primary Care, the initiative behind this focus, is a significant resource for primary care physicians within the URMC network.

Working with us, you will find key elements in place to help you practice your way:

  • Autonomy
  • Collaboration
  • Stability
  • Stimulation
  • Leadership and administrative support
  • A system-wide dedication to quality
Momot

"My welcome in Rochester was unbelievable. I completed medical school and my residency elsewhere, so I wondered how quickly I'd build a new professional network here. Specialists called to introduce themselves; a couple of them dropped by my office to say hello. My practice partner is terrific. Everyone made me feel right at home.

"And, I'm thrilled with the compensation model that rewards me for work I do in addition to seeing patients.

"The move to Rochester has been great for my family and me. My wife and I are especially pleased that our children have some truly excellent schools to look forward to."

Christopher Momot, MD Family Medicine Practitioner
