 Overview
Dr. Nicole M. Acquisto received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at Kaleida Health in Buffalo, NY and an Emergency Medicine (EM) Specialty Residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in Rochester, NY.
Currently, Dr. Acquisto works as the EM Clinical Pharmacy Specialist and as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at URMC. In addition to clinical practice responsibilities, Dr. Acquisto is the director of the PGY2 EM Pharmacy Residency program, manages an emergency department (ED) Antimicrobial Stewardship program and is actively involved in the education of pharmacy and medical students and residents as well as the pre-hospital providers and nursing staff. She participates in ED and hospital-wide simulation efforts, is a member of the institution's Trauma Council, Adult and Pediatric Resuscitation Committees, and the Rochester Emergency Medical Advisory Committee's Pharmacy and Protocol subcommittees.
She has been the recipient of four American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) grant awards, the ASHP Foundation Resident Practice-Based Research Grant in 2008 as a resident and as the Faculty Principal Investigator in 2009 and 2014, as well as the ASHP Foundation Hospital Pharmacist-Emergency Physician Collaborations Research Grant in 2009. Dr. Acquisto has research and therapeutics publications, is the recipient of an ASHP Best Practices Award in Health-System Pharmacy and the 2013 ASHP Pharmacy Residency Excellence New Preceptor Award, was the recipient of the New York State Chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Research Award in 2011, is the Immediate Past-Chair of the ACCP Emergency Medicine Practice and Research Network, is a member of the ASHP Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists Section Advisory Group on Emergency Care, and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
