 Overview
Dr. Marshall graduated with high-honors from Swarthmore College where he studied Psychology, Philosophy and Biology. He attended Harvard Medical School and did his residency at the Harvard-Longwood Neurological Training Program, serving as Chief Resident prior to moving to Rochester. He completed his NINDS-funded fellowship in Experimental Therapeutics of Neurological Disorders at the University of Rochester, and joined the UR faculty in 1996. He is Chief of Neurology at Monroe Community Hospital, Chief of the Geriatric Neurology Unit in the Department of Neurology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and Director of Strong's Memory Care Program. He is an author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters dealing with the natural history and therapeutics of a variety of neurodegenerative disorders, including Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, and Alzheimer's disease. He is elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, and Alpha Omega Alpha, and was a Dean's Teaching Fellow at the Medical School. He co-directs that Neurology Clerkship and has won many teaching awards. He served as a Chair of the University's Research Subject Review Board, and has been the Principle Investigator on several multi-center randomized clinical trials. He regularly volunteers at UR-Well, a student run clinic at St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center that provides care to individuals without health-insurance.
