Overview

Research:

Primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease through the identification and modification of coronary risk factors. Special interest in community outreach and intervention programs. Active as a sub-investigator on numerous clinical trials dealing with hyperlipidemia.

Laurie Kopin is the Executive Director of the Donor Relations and Executive Health Programs at the Univeristy of Rochester Medical Center. She is also a Senior Nurse Practitioner in the Preventive Cardiology Clinic located at the Clinton Crossings Medical Campus. Of special interest to Ms. Kopin was the development of the preventive cardiology program that offers a fully comprehensive lipid disorder and hypertension clinic. Numerous clinical trials are conducted at the Preventive Cardiology Clinic where she serves as the sub-investigator.

Ms. Kopin is also an Associate Professor of Nursing and a Senior Instructor of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Nursing and the School of Medicine. She teaches a graduate level MPH course in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine entitled, "Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine". She is a collaborating faculty member on the NHLBI Nutrition Academic Award that was the driving force behind the development and implementation of this preventive medicine course.
