 Overview
Jerrold Lerman MD, FRCPC, FANZCA

Jerrold Lerman was educated at the University of Waterloo, Ontario (B.A. Sc. Hons. Chemical Engineering 1974) and at the University of Toronto, Ontario (M.D., FRCPC 1982) in Anesthesia. After graduating, he completed a research fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia at the University of San Francisco and Cardiovascular Research Institute, San Francisco, CA (1982-1983). In 1983, Dr. Lerman returned to Toronto to join the faculty at the University of Toronto at the Hospital for Sick Children as an attending anesthesiologist. He was Anesthetist-in-Chief at the Hospital for Sick Children from 1991-1994. In 1996, he was promoted to Professor of Anesthesia, University of Toronto. In 1997, he received an Honorary FANZCA degree from the Australia and New Zealand College of Anesthetists at their annual meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand. In 2000, he was awarded the Siemens Chair in Pediatric Anesthesia, Hospital for Sick Children. In 2002, he left the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto and assumed the positions of Clinical Professor of Anesthesia at the State University of New York, at Buffalo and staff anesthesiologist at the Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo, Buffalo, New York where he is currently employed. In 2003, he was also appointed Clinical Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, New York, a position that he continues to this date. In 2005, he was appointed acting Chief of Anesthesia at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, PA while working in that institution until 2007. He has published over 110 peer-reviewed manuscripts, received more than 30 peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed grants, is the editor of two textbooks on pediatric anesthesia and has lectured at more than 275 National and International meetings and Universities in 26 countries.
