Kathleen Mulholland Parrinello, RN, PhD

Associate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer,
Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center

As Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Parrinello is the principal administrative officer for Strong Memorial Hospital. On an annual basis, Strong Memorial experiences 40,000 patient discharges, over 1,000,000 ambulatory visits, and 98,000 emergency room visits.

Ms. Parrinello has served Strong Memorial in several capacities since her 1975 graduation from the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Following her initial appointment as a staff nurse in general surgery she moved into leadership positions and eventually became Clinical Chief for Surgical Nursing. In 1995 she accepted the position of Senior Director for Hospital Operations a key role on the hospital's management team and in 2000 became Chief Operating Officer of Strong Memorial Hospital. In addition to her administrative duties, Ms. Parrinello has two academic appointments at the University of Rochester; Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Clinical Associate Professor of Community and Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Ms. Parrinello is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives in addition to a number of professional memberships and activities and the author of several publications on clinical practice and administration.
