Pricing

Pricing for all services will be determined on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the Director of the PRL, Dr. Mark D. Platt.

The overall anticipated* Service Time for a particular project will be broken down into three components:

  • Technician Time - the anticipated amount of “hands-on” time it will take the PRL staff member to complete the service
  • Instrument Time - the anticipated amount of time a given PRL instrument will be dedicated to that particular service (including system cleaning and suitability testing)
  • Data Analysis/Reporting Time - the time required to set up, initiate and carry out an automated database search using the PRL software and to generate an associated report

The anticipated* overall cost for each service will be calculated as follows:

  • Technician Cost will be determined by multiplying the Technician Time by the hourly Technician Rate (currently $60/hr)
  • Instrument Cost will be determined by multiplying the Instrument Time by the hourly Instrument Rate (currently $70/hr)
  • Data Analysis/Reporting Cost will be determined by multiplying the Data Analysis/Reporting Time by the hourly Data Analysis/Reporting Rate (currently $60/hr)
  • Consumable Costs will be determined by multiplying the overall Service Time by the hourly Consumable Rate (currently $15/hr) and adding any unique consumable costs specific to that analysis
  • Chemical Costs will be determined by multiplying the overall Service Time by the hourly Chemical Rate (currently $5/hr) and adding any unique chemical costs specific to that analysis

* Despite the extensive project planning experience demonstrated by the PRL staff, it must be recognized that these times (and the quoted costs based upon them) are estimates only and that the real time(s) required to perform a particular service may vary. However, users of the PRL will only be charged for the actual time they are utilizing the resources of the facility. Once a project is completed and an accurate accounting of the times required to complete the service have been calculated, the user will be notified of any difference and their account will be charged or credited accordingly.

The fee structure above will be assessed and revised as necessary on an annual basis in order to ensure cost recovery and compliance with NIH Notice NOT-OD-13-053 (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-13-053.html)
