Children PaintingWe accept applications to the Master of Science Program in Marriage and Family Therapy throughout the calendar year. The number of applicants that we accept each year is limited, so we do highly recommend applicants begin the application process as much in advance as possible.

University of Rochester's Master's Application Timeline

      For Admission to Fall Semester:

      Deadline - May 1

      Complete Application due

      May-June 1

      Offer of Admissions notices mailed

      By July 1

      Responses due for Offer of Admission

      August

      New student Orientation

      September

      Fall semester begins

      For Admission to Spring Semester:

      By November 1

      Complete Application due

      November-December 1

      Offer of Admission notices mailed

      By December 15

      Responses due for Offer of Admission

      January

      Spring semester begins

    Application Requirements

    *A complete application includes:

        1. Online application
        2. Personal/Research statement
        3. Three (3) letters of recommendation
        4. Official transcript(s)
        5. Official test scores
          - GRE
          - TOEFL (applicants whose native language is not English)
        6. Completed Interviews with three (3) program faculty.
          - Our Program participates in 2 university-wide interview days as well as conducts Individual Interviews as applications are completed.
          All interviews are by invitation only.

        Research papers, publications, other original works, as well as CVs and resumes, may also be submitted for consideration but are not required.
