Comprehensive Stroke Center

Strong Memorial Hospital offers a comprehensive stroke center, capable of delivering care dedicated to the complex stroke patient from diagnosis and initial treatment through rehabilitation. Our Stroke Center is accredited by both the New York State Department of Health and the Joint Commission.

A comprehensive stroke center provides a complete range of care for complex stroke survivors requiring specialized testing and treatments. A comprehensive stroke center has specialized personnel required to provide the highest level of stroke care, including highly technical procedures when needed. Comprehensive stroke centers provide the following:

Neurosurgery and neuroradiology for state-of-the-art surgical and endovascular techniques
Vascular neurology services
Advanced brain imaging capabilities
A neurological intensive care unit
A stroke registry for data collection and outcome improvement
