ImageCast - viewing Radiology Images

System Requirements

  1. You must use be using a Microsoft Windows PC with Internet Explorer version 5.5 or 6.0. 
  2. University of Rochester Medical Center domain account (How to get an account)
  3. Virtual Private Network (VPN) software installed (How to install VPN software)

NOTE: ImageCast will not run on Mac systems. ImageCast does not support browsers other than Internet Explorer.

Setting Up Your System to Access ImageCast

1. Request an ImageCast Account

  1. To get a User ID and password, contact the URMC Information Systems (ISD) Help Desk: 275-3200. The ISD Helpdesk will work with the Radiology department to set up your account. You will be sent a fax cover/questionnaire and confidentiality agreement.  Using the questionnaire, Radiology determines the need for an account.  After you return the questionnaire and confidentiality form by fax, an e-mail will be sent to you containing your user ID and first-time password.  You can expect to receive your account information within five (5) business days.  Also included are instructions on how to use the on-line tutorial within ImageCast.

2. Install the ICA Client

  1. Click this link to download the ICA client (ftp://www_guest:www_guest@extraftp.urmc.rochester.edu/tse/setup.exe)
    A file download dialog box appears.  Click “Run” to download the software and start the installation process.
    NOTE: the download is approximately 3 megabytes in size and may take up to 10 minutes to download on slower connections.
  2. Once the download is complete, a dialog box is displayed asking if you want to run the Citrix Web Client. Click “Run” to start the installation process.


  3. A dialog box appears asking if you want to install MetaFrame Presentation Server Web Client.  Click “Yes.”


  4. To accept the licensing agreement, click “Yes.”


  5. Once the installation is completed successfully, a dialog box is displayed notifying you that the browser must be restarted.  Click "OK".


  6. Close all Internet Explorer browser windows that are open.
  7. Open Internet Explorer.

3. Configure Your Browser

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click “Tools” from the menu bar and click on “Internet Options” from the drop-down box.
  3. Click on the “Security” tab at the top of the window.
  4. Click the green checkmark icon labeled “Trusted sites.”
  5. Click on the button marked “Sites.”
  6. Enter the following URL in the text box where it says “Add this website to the zone” https://imagecast.urmc.rochester.edu
  7. Click “Add”
  8. Click “Close”
  9. Click "Ok"

Connecting to ImageCast

  1. Verify your system meets the ImageCast system requirements
  2. Verify that the ImageCast software is installed
  3. Connect to the URMC network using VPN
  4. Connect to ImageCast by clicking on the link or entering http://vnetixssl.urmc.rochester.edu/isuite into Internet Explorer's Address Bar.

  5. When prompted, log in to the URMC network using your domain account.
  6. Log in using your ImageCast account information
