Dr. Vikram S. Dogra

Vikram S. Dogra, MD is the Director, Division of Ultrasound and Associate Chair of Education and Research for the Department of Imaging Sciences at the University of Rochester Medical Center. His faculty appointments include Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Professor of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Dogra also assists and organizes the research efforts in the Department of Imaging Sciences for residents, fellows, and other PhDs. He is deeply involved with education programs for radiology residents and sonographers. Dr. Dogra is certified by the American Board of Radiology and American Registry, ARDMS (Ultrasound Physics, and Abdomen, OB/GYN, Neurosonography) He is also a board examiner in Ultrasound for American Board of Radiology.

Honors and Awards

Dr. Dogra has earned many honors and awards in his career, including, most recently: Received First Place in Scientific Poster Session with Bhatt S and Rubens DJ for Color flow Doppler evaluation of testicular torsion and its pitfalls, presented at the AIUM 51st annual convention in Washington DC, March 23rd-26th, 2006.

  • Received Third Place in Scientific Poster Session with Hannah C; Bhatt S; Rubens, Deborah J; and Patrick F for Tricks and pitfalls of ovarian torsion imaging, presented at the AIUM 51st annual convention.
  • Elected Honorary fellow of the Society of Uroradiology (USA)
  • Elected Honorary Fellow of European Society of Uroradiology (ESUR)
  • Elected Senior Member of AIUM
  • Received Distinguished Committee Service Award (Ultrasound) given by the American College of Radiology (ACR)
  • Finalist in the New Investigator Award Competition for The value of high intensity focused ultrasound to control post biopsy hemorrhage: feasibility study in a porcine model, at 2005 AIUM Annual Convention, June 19-22, in Orlando, Florida.
  • Received Second Place in Scientific Poster Session with RM Paspulati and S Bhatt for Sonographic Spectrum in First Trimester Bleeding, presented at the AIUM Annual Convention in 2005.
  • Received a Certificate of Merit with S Bhatt and G Maclennan for Renal Pseudo Tumors: Imaging Features and Pathological Correlation, presented at the 91st Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America, November 27-December 2, 2005 in Chicago, Illinois.
  • Arvin E. Robinson Award. Given to a senior faculty member who demonstrates excellence in Radiology resident education and Teaching. University of Rochester, NY-2006-2007.
  • First Prize- Bhatt S and Dogra VS. Acute gynecological presentations with emphasis on color flow Doppler evaluation, presented at the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists and The Society of Uroradiology in conjunction with The European Society of Urogenital Radiology. 2007.

Highlights

December 2005, Dr. Dogra started a two-year term as president of the 3,000-member American Association of Radiologists of Indian Origin. Dr. Dogra has a strong background in ultrasound research. He has published many significant articles related to radiology and is the author of several textbooks and book chapters. In addition, he is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences and is on the editorial board member and is a reviewer for several major journals. Previous Experience

Before coming to the University of Rochester, Dr. Dogra was at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, where he served as Vice-Chairman of Education and Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology & Biomedical Engineering. He was the Radiology Residency Program Director, the Director, Division of Ultrasound, and the Section Head, GU Radiology.
