Telomeres Might Predict Lung Cancer Recurrence
Telomeres are sections of DNA that tell an interesting story about lifespan. Shorter telomeres usually suggest a shorter life -- but new research by a Wilmot lung cancer expert shows that longer telomeres might be a promising biomarker for a recurrence of early stage lung cancer.
Astrocytes – cells that until only recently have been dismissed as merely brain “glue” – are becoming increasingly important and flexible tools in confronting a range of neurological disorders. New research shows that the right kind of astrocyte can restore order and rescue cells in brains ravaged by Parkinson’s disease.
