Description: The Biosafety Level Three (BSL-3) facility is available for the use of any researcher at the university whose work requires the manipulation of biological agents which may cause serious or potentially lethal disease as a result of exposure by the inhalation route.

Equipment:

  • Four class II biohazard hoods
  • Pass-through autoclave
  • Stationary air and CO2 incubators, shaking incubator
  • Centrifuge with micro-, lowspeed, and highspeed rotors
  • Electroporator
  • Visible light spectrophotometer
  • Sonifier
  • Sonicator
  • Inverted microscope
  • -80 freezer and liquid nitrogen storage unit
  • Cell lysis equipment

Users of the BSL-3 facility will be charged a fee. Please contact the director for further information.
