The goal of this Core Facility is to support investigators in their pursuit of studies involving electron microscopy at the lowest possible hourly fee. Our facility includes a Hitachi 7100 Transmission Electron Microscope with a state-of-the-art MegaView III digital camera and software “AnalySIS” for morphometric data analysis. Investigators can examine their research specimens with the Director as the real-time digital image is displayed on a computer monitor. The size of each digital image captured is 1.3 MB and is saved as a “tiff” file. Each photography session’s digital files are saved and burned onto a CD-R or transferred onto a USB jump stick. Our laboratory can also perform Scanning Electron Microscopy on any specimen type.
