URMC Pathology/Morphology Imaging Core
DirectorLinda Callahan, Ph.D. Mission StatementThe URMC Pathology/Morphology Imaging Core strives to provide UR researchers the ability to obtain high quality imaging data using state-of-the-art microscopy instruments. The Core also aims to be the information hub for UR resources centering around histological processing, imaging, and image processing and to serve as a conduit for communication of imaging researchers on campus. Statement of Core Services/FunctionsThe PMIC Core houses three high resolution research microscopes that provide researchers the ability to obtain qualitative and quantitative imaging-based data from tissue sections or cell cultures. Expertise is provided both for the design of experiments as well as for the obtainment of images and software analysis. PMIC Core personnel aid investigators in determining possible resources within the University that can section and immunohistochemically or histologically process the tissue that will eventually be examined using Core instruments. Guidance for quantitative assessment of image-based data is also provided. Core personnel are able to perform both the imaging and quantitation of data for investigators that are not familiar with microscopic research technology. Specialized Equipment
