URMC Pathology/Morphology Imaging Core (PMIC)

The StereoInvestigator is a stereology program that is based on the 'new unbiased stereology method'. The program is currently considered by NIH and journal reviewers as one of the 'gold standard' methods for obtaining unbiased 'counts' from microscopic images.

The PMIC Core StereoInvestigator software package is fully supported by both the Core personnel and MicroBrightfield (company making StereoInvestigator). Support through MicroBrightfield includes 'at-the-microscope' phone support as well as the ability for MBF to see directly what is on the Core's monitor using remote technology.

StereoInvestigator enables the ability to reliably count numbers of cells, volumes of cells, lengths of fibers, and a number of other parameters. The MicroBrightfield company also works with investigators to customize their software if necessary to provide unbiased assessments of objects of interest.
