Deanna Maffett, R.N. - Nurse Coordinator
Dee Maffett graduated from Alfred State College with an Associate degree in Nursing. Her work experience has been broad from general floor nursing, neonatal intensive care, whole blood collections and apheresis, flu vaccine clinics, school nursing programs and clinical study coordination. Dee has worked for Highland Hospital, Strong Hospital, Strong School of Nursing, Independent Nursing Care, Gates, Churchville and Spencerport BOCES school districts, and the American Red Cross. Important for the Rochester Human Immunology Center program, Dee has 16 years experience with the American Red Cross; specifically, she has eight years with whole blood collections and eight years experience apheresis. Since joining the Center for Vaccine Biology and Immunology in 2003, Dee has worked with Dr. F. Eun-Hyung Lee, M.D. to develop a HIPAA compliant Healthy Donor Program to provide blood for human research at within CVBI. With the development of the Rochester Human Immunology Center within CVBI, her role has expanded to providing IRB approved HIPAA compliant blood collection services to a broad range of investigators collaborating with the RHIC. Dee is well versed in conducting investigator initiated clinical studies including study protocol, informed consent, records management, institutional review board (IRB) applications online and HIPAA compliance. Dee develops, plans, implements, and provides follow up to assure quality and compliance with investigator’s human research studies.
