The da Vinci® Surgical System, a new category in minimally invasive surgery
Robotic surgery, the latest evolution in surgical technology, allows physicians an effective alternative to traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy. With the assistance of the da Vinci Surgical System, surgeons can now operate using only 1 to 2 cm incisions, but with greater precision and control than ever before.
Robotic surgery helps minimize the pain and risk associated with surgery, while increasing the likelihood of a fast recovery and excellent clinical outcomes.
The University of Rochester Medical Center was the first in the area to utilize the da Vinci Surgical System and allows surgeons to offer patients a minimally invasive option for complex surgical procedures.
Robotic Surgery Can be Used to Treat a Range of Conditions
- Cancers such as bladder, colorectal, gynecologic, kidney, prostate, throat, and thyroid
- Gynecologic conditions including endometriosis, heavy uterine bleeding, fibroids, and uterine prolapse
- Kidney disorders
