The Rochester Aging Study

Scientists and clinicians at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, ViaHealth and Unity Health are working together on The Rochester Aging Study.

The purpose of The Rochester Aging Study is to develop the methods to identify a bionomic profile for Alzheimer's disease. Bionomic profiles, determined by analyzing a blood sample, combine information from a person's genes and their environment.

It is hoped that physicians will eventually use this bionomic profile to diagnose people at the very early stages of Alzheimer's disease, when treatments can be most beneficial. Information from bionomic profiles could also be used to develop new medications to help prevent or slow the progression of the disease.

The people of Rochester, New York have the opportunity to be a part of this important medical research effort. It is exciting to imagine the impact our community will make on the future of medical care.

Anyone interested in taking part in the study should call (585) 275-6881.
