Howard Federoff, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Federoff acted as the Principal Investigator during the initial stages of the Rochester Aging Study. In April 2007, Dr. Federoff left the University of Rochester and assumed a position at Georgetown University. He remains involved in the project and now acts as a co-investigator on the study.

Dr. Federoff received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Between 1983 and 1986 he trained in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital. After an additional two years as a post-doctoral fellow in molecular neurobiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital he returned to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as a faculty member in the Departments of Medicine and Neuroscience. In 1995, Dr. Federoff founded the Division of Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy in the Department of Neurology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. In 1997 he was appointed Director of the University's Neuroscience Program.
