$100,000 Challenge Issued by
Alumnus
John S. R. Deacon, M.D. '70 has issued
a challenge for all alumni. Dr. Deacon will match every $2 given with
$1 up to $100,000. Dr. Deacon and George D'Angelo, M.D. '51 are chairing
the committee for the George L. Engel Memorial Lecture. The fund will
be invested. As the endowed fund grows, the Engel lectureship will become
a symposium with a panel of speakers each year. The chairs envision
doing a live webcast of the program in future years. An endowment of
$300,000 will generate enough income each year to sustain such a substantial
undertaking. According to Dr. Deacon, " George Engel was always
interested in using film and tapes for teaching purposes. We think he
would be thrilled to know that his lecture could be seen around the
world."
