Dr. Kei Yamada from Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Kyoto, Japan was a visiting lecturer at the University of Rochester on May 1, 2008. He presented an outstanding lecture on "Imaging of Stroke." Dr. Yamada was a Neuroradiology Fellow in our department from 1995-1997. |

| Dr. Humera Ahsan, Associate Professor and Section Head of MRI in the Department of Radiology at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan was a visiting professor in Neuroradiology from December 31, 2007 to January 11, 2008. She presented Imaging Sciences Grand Rounds on "Imaging in Movement Disorders". She also reviewed interesting cases with the Dr. Westesson and the neuroradiology fellows and residents during her visit. |

Dr. Joel Curé, Visiting Professor, September 21-22, 2006 |

| Dr. Joel Curé from the University of Alabama at Birmingham visited the University of Rochester on September 21-22, 2006. Dr. Curé came to visit our department and give Grand Rounds on cystic lesions of the spine. Dr Curé has one of the largest collections of images of cystic spine lesions and his lecture was very well received. |

Dr. Carsten Wikkelsø spent a fruitful week in Neuroradiology and left for a week of vacation in the Northeast before going back to the University of Göteborg. |

Dr. Claes Kilander, Visiting Professor, May 18, 2006

| Dr. Claes Kilander from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden visited the Division of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology and gave a lecture on diagnostic imaging of low back pain. Dr. Kilander is collecting large research material on the validity of imaging and its relationship to positive outcome from surgery. Dr. Kilander presented his approach to spine diagnosis and entertained lots of challenging questions. He is pictured above with Cindy Zink, our physician assistant. |

Dr. Leena Ketonen, Visiting Professor on May 13, 2005

On Friday, May 13th, Leena Ketonen, M.D., Ph.D., was a visiting professor with us. Dr. Ketonen is currently Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ketonen spent the day in neuroradiology where she presented two lectures. In the morning from 8:00 to 9:00 am she talked about separation of radiation necrosis and brain tumor recurrence using profusion imaging. At lunch time, she gave an oral review type residents' conference. |

| Cinderella came as a visiting professor on October 29, 2004 and gave her opinion on a difficult case. She quickly left the department and has not been seen since. |

Dr. Ahsan observed in Neuroradiology and she is especially interested in MR Imaging, Diffusion Imaging, Perfusion/Diffusion and Functional MR Techniques. Dr. Ahsan comes from the leading hospital in Pakistan at the Aga Khan University. This is a very dynamic and international university. As an example there has been at least one dean from the United States leading the Aga Khan University. They have satellite sites, for example in Nairobi, and are currently looking for an American trained radiologist to lead their department of radiology in Nairobi.
Dr. Ahsan gave the following lectures during her visit:
- MR Myelography - Radiology Grand Rounds at 4PM on 9/16/04 in Cancer Center Conference Room (G-3111)
- Tuberculosis of the Brain and Spine
- MRI in Epilepsy
- Imaging Features of Tuberculous Spondylitis
- Interesting Cases
The last 4 lectures took place on Fridays at lunchtime in the Neuroradiology Conference Room (1-4719). |

Dr. Ahsan from Aga Khan University lectures about TB of the brain and spine, a condition that we do not see but is very common in Pakistan. TB is the most common infectious disease world wide. |
