Dr. Manoj Ketkar, who was a fellow in Neuroradiology from July 2001 to June 2003, visited Rochester this July to meet old friends and show his children where they grew up. Dr. Ketkar is now in Dallas, Texas practicing radiology with an emphasis on neuroradiology. |
URMC Again Honored For Cardiac, Heart Failure, Stroke Programs
|
Strong Memorial is the only Rochester-area hospital to receive this honor, and the only Rochester-area hospital to receive any level of American Heart Association recognition for its coronary artery disease and heart failure care. Only 13 hospitals in the U.S. are recognized this year with the Triple Performance Achievement Award.
The list of award-winners will be published July 28 in an AHA/ASA advertising announcement in the "America's Best Hospitals" issue of U.S. News & World Report.

Dr. Daniel Ginat wins the RAIN (Resident Achievement in Neuroradiology) award for the second time. Dan has been successful in publishing the most case reports on our internet-based teaching file during the last academic year and received the RAIN award at the Imaging Sciences Annual Dinner. |

An Upstate New York Stroke Care Symposium was held in Rochester on Friday, June 5, 2009 under the leadership of Drs. Adam Kelly and Curtis Benesch. Drs. John Deveikis and Babak Jahromi spoke on imaging and interventional treatment of acute stroke. |
2nd edition of "Diffusion-Weighted MR Imaging of the Brain" published

A second revised edition of “Diffusion-Weighted MR Imaging of the Brain” by Drs. Moritani, Ekholm, & Westesson was recently published by Springer with outstanding image quality (see excerpts above). "Diffusion-weighted MR Imaging of the Brain" was the first book on this subject when it was published in October 2003. The progress in the field of diffusion imaging is very fast, and this second edition essentially represents a completely new book with new text and new images, and a new chapter on extra-cranial scalp and skull lesion has also been added. |

Neuroradiology celebrated the publication of Mark Harrigan and John Deveikis 's new book on neurovascular disease and neuroendovascular therapy that was just released by Springer, entitled "Handbook of Cerebrovascular Disease and Neurointerventional Technique." This 600 page masterpiece is a complete reference for anyone involved in neurointervention. |

In their nomination, the patient stated: "The care provided by Iris during every element of my care as well as that I witnessed her providing patients around me epitomizes the very goals outlined. Matt Cham, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology at Cornell Medical Center in
NYC was a visiting speaker at the U of R Medical Center on April 17, 2009. Dr Cham gave multiple lectures related to cardiac and chest imaging. He also presented
