Dean's Office Regulations of the Faculty
The new Regulations of the Faculty were approved in January, 2001, and, since that time, a large number of faculty have been appointed, reappointed or promoted in one or another of the new options or tracks. While implementing the new guidelines in the last twenty months, it became clear that some changes were warranted based, in part, on the experience of the Steering Committee. Changes in the language certain sections of the Regulations have now been made and have been reviewed and approved by the Steering Committee, the MEDSAC, the Medical Faculty Council, the University Committee on Tenure and Privileges and by the Vice Provost and Provost of the University. In the attached, revised copy of the Regulations, new sentences or paragraphs are shown in blue and can be found in the following sections:
- Criteria for promotion to Professor in the Clinician-Teacher (C-T) activity option: pages 15 and 36 of the printed version of the Regulations.
Note: The principal intent of this enhancement is to emphasize the importance of attaining a degree of national recognition for promotion to the rank of Professor.
- Substitution of several new paragraphs for the final six paragraphs in the section of Procedures for Appointments and Promotions, starting with paragraph 4 on p. 23 of the printed version.
- A minor but important change in a sentence of the section on ACADEMIC LEAVE OF ABSENCE (p. 26 of the printed version) to provide a needed clarification. Please add these changes to your hard copy of the Regulations of the Faculty. Thank you for your consideration.
