Rochester Medicine

An Award Winning Hobby

Elk Lake

Gary D. Paige, M.D., Ph.D., is among the winning photographers in The Nature Conservancy's 2013 Digital Photo Contest.

Chair of the Departement of Neurobiology and Anatomy, Paige took this shot while on his annual pilgramage to Elk Lake Lodge in the Adirondacks.  He and his family have been going there every year for more than two decades, seeking a few days of respite from his demanding schedule.  He's taken a lot of pictures there, but this one is a favorite.

"We woke up early and it looked like the sky had been fingerpainted.  It was just unbelieveable," Paige says.

Paige started his hobby when he was seven years old, and never lost interest.  He and his wife Myrna now have their own photography Web site, Front Paige Photography, and you'll recognize some of his work on the Elk Lake Lodge site as well!
