Welcome three new postdoctoral fellows, Drs. Kaja Abbas, Yeonok Lee, and Arun Kumar, who joined our
division in 2008

Dr. Hulin Wu was elected as Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA). Dr. Wu received the
honor in recognition of his outstanding professional contributions to and leadership in the field of
statistical science on August 5, 2008, at the Association's 168th annual Joint Statistical Meeting in Denver.
Each year, ASA members nominate their peers as fellows of the ASA. This is a great honor as the numbers of
recipients are limited to no more than 1/3 of 1% of the ASA membership.

New statistical methods for ordinary differential equation (ODE) models developed by Dr. Hulin Wu and his
associates.

Dr. Hulin Wu and Dr. Jingming Ma in our Division serve as Director of Biostatistics Core and Director of
Informatics Core for the newly established New York Influenza Center of Excellence (NYICE), funded by
NIAID/NIH with a total budget of $26 million for year 2007 to 2014.
