Nikolay Yanev, Ph.D.
Dept of Probability and Statistics
Institute of Mathematics and Informatics
Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
Sofia, Bulgaria

Dr. Yanev arrived for a five-month visit in January 2008. During his stay he will conduct collaborative research with Dr. Andrei Yakovlev on stochastic modelling of multi-type cell systems.

During prior visits beginning in January 2007 and January 2005, Dr. Yanev taught a course on stochastic processes and collaborated with Drs. Yakovlev and Hyrien in applications of the theory of branching stochastic processes in experimental studies of CNS development and leukemia.

  Past Visiting Faculty

Doctor of Science in Mathematics
Distinguished Professor, Moscow Lmonosov State University, Russia
Part-time Faculty, State University Higher School of Economics, Russia

Dr. Tyurin was with the Department for 4 months beginning in September 2006. His areas of interests include mathematical methods of statistics, especially nonparametric statistics, and applications of statistical methods in economics and social sciences. During his stay Dr. Tyurin lectured on Probability to graduate students and conducted research on gene expressions.
