Research Interests

My main research area is survival analysis with censored data. I have been working on quality adjusted lifetime estimation with data arising from clinical trials and have developed methods for analyzing quality adjusted survival time that can be used in clinical trials of chronic diseases such as cancer, AIDS or cardiovascular diseases. I am also interested in medical costs estimation and cost-effectiveness analysis.

I collaborate with the Clinical Trials Coordination Center, a research unit of the University of Rochester's Department of Neurology, on study design and analysis of many multi-centered controlled clinical trials of neurological disorders such as Parkinson's Disease and Huntington's Disease. My other collaborations include working with the University of Rochester Wilmot Cancer Center's Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) on symptom control in cancer clinical trials, and the Heart Research Program on cost-effectiveness analysis and quality of life aspect of the Multicenter Automatic Defibrillator Implantation Trials (MADIT).

I obtained my Doctor of Science in Biostatistics in 1997 from Harvard University. I am a member of the American Statistical Association and the International Biometric Society.
