Module Three : Web Work
The Module Three Web Work assignment is to download and install Epi
Info. You will need Epi Info to complete the Module Three Homework
assignment as well as for future modules. What follows is a description
of Epi Info, for detailed downloading/installation instructions please
check the links at the bottom of this page.
What is Epi Info?
Epi Info is a collection of public domain computer programs put
together by the CDC to facilitate data collection, analysis, and results
dissemination. Its main features include a simple word processor,
user-programmable data entry screens, and a variety of statistical
analysis tools. Extended features of this widely used statistical
package include advanced analytical strategies, map outputs (via Epi
Map), nutritional and biometric analysis, and detailed tutorials on
epidemiological methods. Epi Info is freely available in 17 different
languages from the CDC web site at:
http://www.cdc.gov/epiinfo/
What is the difference between Epi 6 and Epi 2000?
Epi Info comes in two varieties Epi 6, which was the first released
and is still the most widely used, and Epi 2000 which has a more modern
looking, menu-driven, appearance. While Epi 2000 lacks some of the
analytic functionality and flexibility of Epi 6 both are suitable
for the purposes of this course (questionnaire design, data entry,
basic analysis). We at, MACH 2010, strongly encourage the use of Epi
2000 as this version is generally easier to download, install, and
use.
