Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid

Course Description
The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries to a child in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Topics include First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emeregncies, Environmental Emergencies, Optional First Aid topics and CPR with AED.

Audience
For those involved in child care who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements, such as child care workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp councelors, youth organizations and coaches for children's sports organizations.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the principles of providing first aid
  2. Describe how the first aid rescuer protects himself/herself and others
  3. Describe how to assess a victim
  4. Describe what to do after the emergency
