Course Description
This course is designed to provide rescuers with the emergency medical
knowledge and skills necessary to care for the sick and injured in
a prehospital setting. Topics include the recognition and treatment
of respiratory and circulatory emergencies, trauma, medical emergencies,
environmental injuries, emergency childbirth, and psychological emergencies.
Students successfully completing this course are eligible to take the
New York State certification exam for emergency medical technicians.
Twenty-five instruction hours, twenty laboratory hours.

Begins in October 13, 2007 and ends March 20, 2008.
Course Length
Runs concurrent with the EMT-B Original.
Course Cost
The textbook being used is the Jones and Bartlett AAOS Ninth Edition. The cost of the manual will be $60 which can be purchased through the OER Department or from any book store.
New York State Department of Health provides tuition reimbursement (when
available) for students from NYS EMS agencies who successfully complete
approved courses and become certified. If the student does not qualify
for State tuition reimbursement, the student will be responsible for
paying the $425 tuition.
