The department sponsoring the course has traditionally covered incidental costs incurred by course directors, lecturers or small group leaders when preparing for a course. This will continue in the Double Helix Curriculum. These costs include, but are not limited to:
The payment for items that will be utilized by course directors, lecturers, PBL tutors or small group leaders for the entire class will be made by the OER. These items may include multistations, slides, copyright permissions, final syllabi production, and scanning of graphics for insertion into Prometheus. For additional information on this, please see the Syllabus and Handout Materials section of this Webpage. Materials such as slides and multistations paid for by OER are considered property of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and will be maintained by the Offices for Educational Resources.
If you wish to purchase materials for your distribution to your class, requests must be approved by the Offices for Medical Education prior to purchase and coordinated through the OER.
The purchase of new or additional laboratory needs and equipment is coordinated by the OER. Those with questions regarding the purchase of these materials should contact Ann Mankowksi. There is a modest budget for the purchase of new computer-based educational programs, which may be on CD-ROM or the Web. This is coordinated and paid for by Miner Library. Those with questions regarding the purchase of these materials should contact Michele Shipley.
