From our graduates...

Nussbaum“Since graduating in June, 2008, I wanted to tell you how I'm doing -- not to brag and say that I am doing a great job, but to say "look at all of this crazy stuff you taught me how to do." I have seen some challenging cases, and I freak out a little bit, and then remember what you taught me - and here's the crazy part: I can take care of these patients. You made me into an Emergency Medicine Doctor. I still have a lot to learn, but you have given me a great set of knowledge and skills as a base to start from. I am deeply indebted to you and grateful for the time and efforts given to teach me.”
-Christopher Nussbaum, MD '08 Videos of Residents and Fellows

Setnik"In the year since I graduated from the University of Rochester Emergency Medicine program, I've worked in an 8K-visit critical access hospital, a 20k-visit community hospital, and a 45k-visit trauma center. I have felt well trained and comfortable working in each location. Compared to other new grads I've worked alongside, the U of R program made me a stronger physician by challenging me."
-Lon Setnik, MD '05

Our Program...

The Department of Emergency Medicine is a full academic Department at the University.

Our well-established three-year program is fully accredited by the ACGME. We accepted our first class of eight residents in 1994. The program grew to 10 residents in 2001. With rapid growth in patient volume, we were approved for 12 residents in 2004.

During your residency at the University of Rochester, you will work closely with energetic full-time faculty members who are dedicated to helping you prepare for your future in the profession.

Our program offers a unique blend of excellence in teaching and rigorous academic standards, a well-balanced and complete curriculum, a wide range of hand-on experiences, and a supportive and friendly environment.

We look forward to meeting with you and having the opportunity to provide you with complete details on our quality training program. In the meantime, please take the opportunity to review the information on our web site. And feel free to contact us with any specific questions you may have.
