Interview Process

Interviews for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program are held on Tuesdays/Thursdays, beginning in November and continuing through the mid-January. Applicants who are selected for an interview will be notified by email and confirmation letters and details regarding the interview day will also follow via email.

The Interview Day: Our residents host an informal get together the evening before each interview day to welcome applicants. The interview day start and end times vary based on the day of your interview. You will be scheduled to meet with three faculty members, lunch with residents where you will have the opportunity to learn more about our program as well as Rochester, then tour the ED and Strong Memorial Hospital.

Sample itinerary:

9-10 AM: Morning meetings with Department Chair and Directors
10-Noon: Individual faculty interviews
Noon: Lunch and ED/Hospital Tour
Approximate Departure 2:30 PM

A sample resident contract and other benefit information can be viewed on the web site of our Graduate Medical Education Office. Hard copies of these documents will be given to the applicant on the interview day.

Accommodations: Candidates invited for an interview will stay at one of Rochester's finest hotels. Complimentary transportation to and from the hotel is available. If you choose to drive, free parking is provided. Transportation to Rochester is the responsibility of the applicant. Significant others are welcome, and we will do our best to accommodate any particular interests, including information about career opportunities, schools, cultural facilities, and so forth.
