Program Director Welcome

Stephen Schultz

Thank you for your interest in the University of Rochester/Highland Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. Our website provides an overview, and enough detail to help you make an informed choice.

We have a 35-year history of excellent training in obstetrics, medicine, and pediatrics. And we offer one of the most comprehensive programs in the country in psychosocial medicine.

A few of the reasons we are one of the best family medicine programs in the country:

  • In-depth, comprehensive psychosocial training in four months of the second year
  • High-volume obstetrics
  • Nationally renowned faculty in research and education
  • Fourth-year chief residents
  • Multiple fellowships
  • Longitudinal Global Health site in rural Honduras, where a team of faculty, residents, dentists, nurses, and medical students goes twice a year
  • Ability to pursue Master of Public Health (MPH) and/or preventive medicine residency training

We have a strong program delivered by a well-established faculty. Our alumni affirm the strength of our training.
