Application ProcessAll applications for the Neurology Residency Program at the University of Rochester must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). ERAS requires you to send them a personal statement and three letters of reference (one should be from the chair of the Department of Neurology at your medical school). Your medical school transcript, USMLE scores for Steps 1 and 2, and the Dean’s letter will be automatically uploaded into the ERAS database. Please also provide us with a Curriculum Vitae and a personal photograph at the time of the interview. Please ensure that you have registered with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The Adult Neurology Residency Program at the University of Rochester has just become a four-year categorical program in neurology that includes a preliminary (PGY-1) year of internal medicine training. This preliminary year is supervised by both the neurology and internal medicine program directors. Candidates are requested to arrive in Rochester on Sunday afternoon so they may meet with current Neurology residents for dinner that evening. The interview program will begin on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. and will conclude no later than 5 p.m. The interview program includes an orientation meeting with the program directors, Attending Rounds on the Neurology Inpatient Unit, tours of the clinical and research facilities, lunch with the Neurology residents, and individual interviews with members of the faculty. Applicants should indicate any specific clinical or investigative interests so additional interviews can be arranged. The Department of Neurology will arrange and pay for overnight accommodations for Sunday night for all applicants invited for an interview. Eligibility RequirementsApplicants to the Neurology Residency Program must be graduates of an approved U.S. or Canadian Medical School, or foreign medical graduates who have been certified through the ECFMG at the time of application.
